Fenton is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill the following career positions:

Contracting Laborer/ Equipment Operator

Salary: $15 to $25.00 Hourly to start, may be higher based on experience and Certifications

Under supervision, perform semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, repair and maintenance of bridges, culverts, precast and related timber, concrete and steel structures, and performs related duties as required.

Typical Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Constructs wood form; tie steel; use finishing tools in concrete construction; pour concrete; remove forms and falsework after construction.
  • Operate air compressor, cutting-torch and sand blasting equipment.
  • Prepare foundations for bridge footing and abutments; construct sack walls and rip rapping.
  • Construct concrete culverts, catch basins, viaducts, curbs, gutters, and related structures using carpentry and concrete hand tools, work aides and machines.
  • Perform construction, repair and maintenance work on bridges, paint concrete and steel used in bridge construction and maintenance.
  • May learn to weld and become certified, get class B endorsements, and operate pile driver, crane, and earth moving equipment. Reimbursement/raise upon successful completion and certification of classes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of methods, materials, safety practices, and tools used in the construction and maintenance of bridges; techniques and methods used in welding; safe operation of pile driver, crane and earth moving equipment.

Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled bridge maintenance and construction tasks for extended periods and under unfavorable weather conditions; read and write English; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work effectively with others; demonstrate physical strength, endurance and mechanical aptitude; must be able to work suspended or on scaffolding above ground or water.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and training which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed.

  • Must have High school diploma or GED (Vocational or technical school recommended but not required)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation.(Mileage payed per week)
  • Must be willing to travel out of state and stay in a hotel with a roommate 4 to 5 nights a week. 100% of the time.
  • Two year experience in the construction or maintenance of wooden or concrete structures, including carpentry, welding experience or operate a skid steer.

Project Manager/Estimator


Company Description

Fenton Rigging & Contracting is a leading specialty contractor in the Railroad industry. Since 1954, Fenton Rigging & Contracting has specialized in bridge replacement and restoration throughout the eastern half of the United States.

Position Description

Fenton Rigging & Contracting is seeking a Project Manager/Estimator capable of estimating and managing multiple railroad bridge replacement & restoration projects. Bridge replacement & restoration projects encompass pile driving, steel erection, steel repairs, concrete restoration, shotcrete, pressure grouting, timber repairs and epoxy injection. Project sizes vary from $50,000 - $2,000,000. Responsibilities include; procuring the initial bid, bidding/estimation of the project, monitor and assist in all aspects of project management from layout to completion, report directly to division manager, daily communication with project superintendent. General travel to jobsites throughout Eastern United States 2-3 days per week.


Typical Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Have at least 3 years of management experience in the construction or related industry.
  • Construction College Degree preferred.
  • Railroad Construction Experience preferred.
  • Have effective verbal/written communication skills.
  • • Be detail oriented and able to meet critical deadlines.
  • Prepare ongoing schedules including all necessary manpower, equipment, subcontractors and materials.
  • Have knowledge of blueprints, specifications, and contract administration.
  • Have a working knowledge of safety requirements in the construction industry.
  • Possess a working knowledge of MS Office.
